The rapper was shot and killed in Broward County, Florida on Monday (June 18)

New details have emerged in the murder of XXXTentacion.

The rapper, whose real name was Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy, was shot and killed as he was leaving a motorcycle dealership in Broward County, Florida on Monday (June 18).

In a sworn affidavit obtained by the New York Times, Detective John Curcio of the Broward Sheriff’s Office stated that the main suspect, Dedrick Williams, and his accomplice had specifically targeted Onfroy and followed him to the motorcycle dealership.

According to the affidavit, Onfroy entered Riva Motorsports at 3:30pm on Monday. Two minutes later, Williams and another man exited an SUV and followed him inside. Williams, who was wearing a white tank top and bright orange sandals, bought a mask from the parts department.

The two men left the store and drove their car to the north exit of the car park, through which Onfroy tried to exit at 3:55pm. The SUV blocked his path and the men, wearing masks and armed, left the vehicle and “demanded property”. “After a brief struggle, the victim is shot,” Curcio wrote.

Williams was identified when police sent images from CCTV videos to patrol units. When they looked at his Instagram account, they found photos of him wearing “the same or similar orange sandals.” He was also identified from photos by employees at Riva Motorsports.

Williams was arrested on Wednesday (June 20) and charged with first-degree murder. He is being held in custody and will appear before a criminal court judge on Monday (June 25).

Meanwhile, a charity event is set to take place in Florida tomorrow (June 24) as “Jahseh’s final wish.” Posts appeared on the rapper’s official Twitter account on Wednesday confirming the event, with one explaining the news was being “posted on behalf of his mother for any wondering.”
