Left 4 Dead developer Turtle Rock is about to release the Back 4 Blood closed Alpha.

The Back 4 Blood gameplay Alpha has a December 17 release date, exclusively on PC. It runs until December 21.

While it may end up starting slightly earlier, the closed Alpha is said to have a 7pm GMT launch time on PC.

In fact, the Alpha begins just after Turtle Rock’s gameplay live stream demonstration.

The Back 4 Blood Gameplay Showcase takes place at 6pm GMT on December 17. It will be broadcast live on YouTube, Facebook and Twitch.

If you’ve got a PC and want to play Back 4 Blood early and for free, then you’ll need to get an invite by signing up to the official website.

“Players must have or create a WB Games Hub account in order to redeem their key,” reads the Back 4 Blood description.

“Registration does not guarantee a spot in the playtest as codes are available in a limited capacity in participating regions (United States, Canada, United Kingdom, France, Germany).”

Of course, if you do sign up you’re going to need to find out whether your PC can run the Alpha.

According to Turtle Rock, players will need at least an Intel Core i5-8500 CPU at 3.00 GHhz.

You’ll also need a minimum of 8GB of RAM, a GeForce GTX 770 graphics card (or Radeon RX 480) and running Windows 10.

If you do receive an invite, you can redeem it by visiting the Back 4 Blood website. Warner Bros. explains more…

1. Go to Back4Blood.com

2. Click “Log-in” in the top right corner to create or access your WB Games Account.

3. Once you’re signed in click on “Account Settings” then enter your code.

4. This should provide you with a Steam code for the Alpha.

To activate a Steam code:

1. Launch the Steam client software and log into your Steam account.

2. Click the Games Menu.

3. Choose Activate a Product on Steam…

4. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the process.

In case you missed the announcement at The Game Awards, Back 4 Blood is a co-op shooter similar to Left 4 Dead.

“The story takes place after a catastrophic outbreak where most of humanity has either been killed or infected by the parasitic Devil Worm,” reads the official description.

“Hardened by unspeakable events and emboldened to fight for the last of humanity, a group of apocalypse veterans called the Cleaners have rallied to take on the infected horrors known as the Ridden and reclaim the world.”

The game can be played online with a squad of four players, or solo with AI teammates. There’s even a player-vs-player multiplayer option.
