Ever since the PS5 went on sale late last year it’s been almost impossible to get hold of. Once the initial stock was snapped up on launch day there’s only been limited availability and as soon new batches arrive they quickly disappear again. Sony isn’t revealing much about what is causing the shortages although a lack of chips and the ongoing health crisis appear to be stalling production of these next-gen machines.

However, there could be better news on the horizon. According to a tweet from PS5 Stock UK, Sony CEO Jim Ryan says the firm expects to sell around 8 million PS5’s by the end of March. That’s way more than the PS4 sold in its first year and could hint that more machines will be arriving in stores soon. A number of UK retailers have either announced February updates or are rumoured to be getting consoles. There are even some suggestions that Amazon and BT will get stock as early as this week.

Here are all the latest news from the UK’s biggest retailers and PS5 updates…

BT PS5 UPDATE

You might think of BT simply offering broadband but the firm also has an online store. Last month it had a flash sale of PS5s and it seems they could be coming back this week. Some reliable stock trackers reckon that BT will have PlayStation 5 consoles soon although there’s no current information on how big the re-stock of PlayStation consoles will be.

VERY PS5 UPDATE

Like most retailers, Very is out of stock right now but that might not be the case for long. On its website, the firm states, “Unfortunately we have sold out of our PS5 consoles for now. We have more stock coming so keep checking back for our next drop.” There’s no word on when this will happen but it could be soon.

SMYTHS PS5 UPDATE

Another popular place to pick up a console is Smyths Toys. Although the store hasn’t got any PS5s on shelves right now the firm is being more specific than most about when more are coming. On its website, the company says, “PlayStation 5 is out of stock. Expected stock February 2021.” Fingers crossed this is the case as that would mean fans haven’t got long left before being able to grab one.

AMAZON PS5 UPDATE

Now here’s some exciting news. Amazon has nothing on its website right now but that could all change tomorrow. One stock rumour is that consoles could appear on February 1. Announcing the news on social media, PS5 Re-Stock UK said: “Don’t think there will be any drops today all will be available from tomorrow! Rumoured Amazon are likely to drop tomorrow! #PS5 #ps5stockuk”

ARGOS PS5 UPDATE

Argos is keeping its cards close to its chest. The popular store simply says, “Sorry, PlayStation®5 is currently unavailable. We’re working hard to make this available as soon as possible.”

There are no other updates from Argos right now but we’ll update things as soon as we hear more.

CURRYS PS5 UPDATE

Currys seems to be so fed up with not having any PS5s in stock it’s removed the console from its website. When searching for the console, gamers are presented with the message, “No results were found for your search.” No further updates are available from Currys right now but we’ll update things if we hear more.

GAME PS5 UPDATE

Game is another retailer not revealing anything new. Their PlayStation page shows both the standard and digital edition out of stock with no other updates available right now. Watch this space!
