Retailer SUP3R5 has announced it is postponing the release and sales of all its Black PS5 consoles that went on sale this week.

Part of a very limited PS5 restock, these consoles were made to mimic the design of the retro PlayStation 2 console.

However, since pre-orders for these consoles went live, SUP3R5 has confirmed that it has cancelled all orders and will be refunding everyone who tried to buy one.

SUP3R5 is a third-party retailer who had been offering unique Black PlayStation 5 consoles and Controllers as products.

The SUP3R5 Twitter account has now been deleted, following several posts referencing “credible threats” to its team.

The SUP3R5 website has now removed its retro-inspired PS5 page, which now lists this information:

“Release of our Retro Inspired controllers and consoles has been postponed.

“We’re cancelling and fully refunding all orders in the coming days. You will receive a notification when your refund is processed.”

According to the information listed on the site before the page was removed, the number of PS5 units was very limited.

Around 300 PlayStation consoles were available to buy, meaning that it would have been very difficult to buy one earlier this week.

The Retro PS5 consoles were also listed at a higher price, costing over $600 to purchase when they were made available.

A statement shared by SUP3R5 on Twitter before its removal, via VGC, read: “Last night, our team began receiving credible threats to their safety.

“We take these threats seriously. We aren’t willing to risk the safety and well-being of our team, or the potential impact this would bring to delivering your order.”

“All existing orders will be cancelled and fully refunded in the coming days. You will receive a notification when this happens.

“We intended this to be a fun way to celebrate a shared nostalgia. As it turns out, there are people out there who are willing to interfere with that. If we determine that it’s safe to try again, we will. For now, please stay safe.”

It’s unclear when new PS5 stock will be made available to buy in the UK, as fans wait on the first major restock event of 2021.

Several retailers have indicated that they would be selling PS5 consoles in January. However, it looks fans will have to wait for a new message to be shared by the various companies to know exactly when this will be happening.
