Apple doesn’t usually go all-out for Black Friday – the US bargain bonanza that’s taken ahold in the UK in recent years and sees retailers slash prices in a bid to get their accounts “back in the black” before the end of the year. In previous years, the iPhone firm has offered gift cards to spend on accessories from the Apple Store or digital purchases from the App Store, iTunes, or subscriptions to the likes of Apple Music, Apple Arcade, or Apple TV+, with the purchase of an iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, or Mac.

However, things could be a little different this time around.

That’s according to reliable tipster L0vetodream. The mysterious Twitter account has a pretty solid track record when it comes to sharing as-yet unannounced details from Apple, including the final product names of the new iPhone models and timings of upcoming events. And now, L0vetodream claims that Apple plans to introduce a “Christmas surprise”.

Of course, there’s no specific mention of Black Friday. But with the sales event taking place just four weeks before the big day, it could easily form part of Apple’s plans. A discount on the likes of iPad, iPhone, AirPods and more could see a colossal surge in sales for the Californian company ahead of Christmas.

It’s also possible the “Christmas surprise” takes place even closer to the big day. Last December, Apple introduced a promotion for US customers with its Apple Card credit card. Shopping in the Apple Store returned them 6 percent cashback for all purchases throughout the month. The tweet could hint at a return for this promotion.

Unfortunately, for those in the UK, where the Apple Card has yet to launch, there was no equivalent promotion last year. And with no sign of a UK launch for the Apple Card anytime soon, things don’t look set to change anytime soon.

If you fancy cracking the code, the full tweet from L0vetodream reads: “You’ll get a Christmas surprise from Apple(PS:Winter exclusive、good for winter)”

On Twitter, users have speculated that it could be a sign that Apple plans to make the face coverings designed for its in-store staff available to everyone on its online store. These reusable masks are designed to make it easier to speak – and avoid glasses steaming up. Other guesses include a new Apple TV model ready for a slew of Christmas movies. And the long-rumoured Apple AirPods Studio over-ear noise-cancelling headphones… although the user who submitted that guess didn’t really explain how that relates to the “good for winter” part of the initial clue.

Even if Apple decided to sit out Black Friday again, there should be some tasty bargains around. The US firm recently updated its MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models with its own custom-designed processors, the M1. As such, it’s likely that the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models launched earlier this year with Intel processors will be available at a discounted price from some retailers, including Amazon, John Lewis, Currys PC World and others.

As always, Express.co.uk will have our eyes peeled for the best deals and discounts around on the day. So stay tuned on Friday, November 27 for the best price drops around.
