It’s been another monumental year for Alexa. Amazon has launched a slew of mighty upgrades to its popular smart speakers. Along with all Amazon Echo speakers getting new features, like Whisper Mode, there was also a swathe of brand-new hardware, including a redesigned Echo, which now enjoys a spherical design and greatly improved sound.
Along with the standard Echo being refreshed, the hugely popular Echo Dot and Echo Dot with Clock also got this new rounded appearance and there was an entirely new Echo Show that now follows you around the room. This upgraded Echo keeps the same 10-inch screen size as previous models, but now has a slimmer frame and a motorised swivel system that enables the display to reposition itself so that it’s always facing you.
Of course, these upgrades are impressive but one of the best parts of owning an Echo is taking to Alexa with this personal assistant now able to answer more questions and perform more tasks than ever before.
Simple commands will switch on your lights, read the daily news, check the weather forecast or play your favourite tunes but there’s more to Alexa than that.
As always, Amazon has released some festive things to ask its Alexa assistant at this time of year and, if you have just unwrapped an Echo this morning, here are some cool things to try. Let the Christmas day argument be a thing of the past and simply say “Alexa, change the subject” to get a new topic to talk about and avoid any disputes!
