If you have a Sky Q box installed in your home then there’s plenty of new features that have arrived over the past few weeks. Updates from Sky include new apps, improved voice search and the option to watch Netflix in pin-sharp HDR quality. Here’s all the bonus features and how some users can cut the price of the monthly bills.
NEW FIIT APP
Sky is usually about sitting on the sofa but one update is now aimed at getting you up on your feet.
From this month, anyone with Sky Q can now access the Fiit range of apps which include over 600 on-demand classes to be viewed straight on the TV.
If you need some added motivation to get your body moving then you can also take part in sessions created and led by Fiit’s 35 industry-leading trainers, including Adrienne Herbert, Cat Meffan, Corinne Naomi, Gede Foster and Gus Vaz Tostes.
Sky says that Fiit on Sky Q gives you a one-on-one training session with a fitness expert without the need to leave your home or head to the gym. To make things simple the app can be found and opened by simply saying “Launch Fiit” into the Sky Q Voice Remote.
24 free classes are available to all Sky Q customers, while Sky VIP customers can try the full Fiit experience for free for 30-days.

NETFLIX IN HDR
After a very, very long wait, Sky finally began introducing HDR earlier this year with a handful of documentaries getting this pin-sharp makeover.
More content is coming from Sky with the company confirming some movies will be getting HDR before Christmas and sports coverage set to debut in 2021.
Now there’s more good news if you have an HDR TV in your living room with Sky now offering Netflix in this format.
For those who are unaware, HDR can display a higher level of contrast between light and dark areas of the screen – so you won’t lose any detail in a movie scene when someone is in a darkened room, looking out of a small window to the brightly lit outdoors.
To watch in full HDR you’ll need to subscribe to Netflix via Sky and need Netflix Premium which is included in the Ultra HD + HD pack (extra £10 per month).
ROXI MUSIC
If you fancy some music rather than TV the there’s another new app on your Sky Q box.
ROXi music arrived recently with this service designed to bring a healthy mix of unlimited music streaming, games based around tracks and artists, radio stations, and most excitingly of all, Karaoke.
Using the ROXi app that dropped overnight into the My Apps tab on their set-top box, Sky customers can now listen to over 55 million songs, challenge their music knowledge with interactive music trivia games or enjoy hundreds of playlists curated by celebrities like such as Robbie Williams and Sheryl Crow.
The arrival of ROXi marks the first time the music entertainment experience has been available on any hardware other than ROXi’s own dedicated Music Entertainment Console.
BETTER VOICE SEARCH
Sky releases a major upgrade to all of its Sky Q boxes in the autumn and along with a new look, there’s a boost to voice controls too. Sky Q’s voice search – which has been given top-billing in the latest redesign of the Sky Q remote control – will now let you ask for themes and genres, alongside actors. So, saying things like “thrillers with Nicole Kidman” will bring up relevant suggestions.
You’ll soon be able to ask for entertainment themes too, such as “new shows”, “Halloween” or “Christmas movies”.
SKY PRICE CUT
Some Sky customers can currently take advantages of all of these features mentioned above at a cheaper price.
The satellite TV firm has a swathe of offers available right now including money off some of its TV and broadband bundles.
If you just want TV then Sky is offering its “Front Row” bundle for £46 per month – saving over 30 percent off the usual price.
This package includes Sky Sports and Sky Cinema plus there’s all the usual Sky entertainment channels.
If you access to BT Sport as well then you can opt for the “Big Bundle” which now costs £59 per month – saving 30 percent.
Those wanting broadband, as well as TV, can currently take advantage of the superfast internet and TV for £39 per month (saving £13) or there’s an option which adds Netflix for £43 per month (saving £15).
