Next in line will be the recently-released flagship Xperia 5 II, which looks set to get Android 11 in January 2021. The mid-range Xperia 10 II could also be upgraded in January with last year’s Xperia 5 and Xperia 1 following in February 2021.

Sadly, if you own one of Sony’s older mid-range or budget devices then there’s no word on when this new version of Android will be made available. Hopefully, Sony will reveal more news on those devices in the coming weeks but for now, you’ll just have to wait or consider upgrading to a newer Xperia device (or a Google Pixel, which is guaranteed to get the latest operating system upgrades directly from Google).

It’s certainly been a busy year for Sony with the firm launching a swathe of new smartphones in 2020. Most have impressed with the Xperia 1 II and Xperia 5 II both being highly commended for their stunning 21:9 ratio screens, powerful Snapdragon processors and access to blisteringly fast 5G data speeds.
