Police say the body of a man found in the Speed River Wednesday evening is that of Richard Jelly.

The 64-year-old’s body was discovered by someone walking in the area of Arthur Street and Wellington Street near Guelph’s downtown core.

Officers were called to the area around 9:20 p.m. Wednesday.

Police said the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Sgt. Jason Guardiero at 519-824-1212.
