Dr Alex George needs reassurance tonight as he starts to feel insecure about his relationship with Ellie Brown ahead of a surprise recoupling.
He saw Ellie flirting with new boy Sam Bird and questions whether she is actually into him, or just into staying in the villa, while he is also torn about whether he should stick by his friend Samira Mighty .
He tells the boys: “In my head, I’m just going to take a step back today. If she [Ellie] wants to come to me, come to me, I’m not running around. I’m not jealous of him, or her with her. If she prefers Sam, then she just has to do what she has do to do.
“What can I do? I’m just going to be myself. I’m not changing, I’m not going to change who I am. I’m not acting differently because someone’s come in here, it is what it is.”
Alex also tells the Beach Hut he wishes he and Ellie were “further down the line” so he would feel more secure about their coupling, so decides he needs to chat to her privately about his fears.
He says: “I just want you to know, I have had a rocky journey here and it does make it sensitive. I probably am a bit more sensitive than I was before. I do feel a bit frustrated.
“I feel like with you, I’m not able to be completely natural all the time.”
Ellie responds: “I think at the minute it’s kind of like ‘oh they’re speaking, oh they’re in the pool’ but I think if we were in a couple, it might take the edge off and we can actually see if it’s natural or if we just don’t work. To me everything just feels, I’ll be honest, very robotic.
“And I don’t feel natural, I don’t feel in my comfort zone, and I do feel too under pressure for us to be a thing. And I’m kind of hoping that if we do recouple, well obviously the ball’s in your court, I have no control.”
Alex replies: “I think as long as you’re happy. I don’t want to try I just want us to enjoy. Enjoy it, see what happens.”
He feels reassured by his chat and goes giggling into the Beach Hut, saying: “I think that chat with Ellie was absolutely needed. There’s a lot of stuff that was kind of bothering me. I was glad to hear a few things from her as well. Actually, we’ve both honest.
“It is a bit robotic at the moment, we are under a bit of pressure, we don’t know if it’s going to definitely work or not, we both are considering that it might be a good idea that if we recouple we could try. We both want to see what we could be like with no pressure.”
But the realisation suddenly hits that in choosing to try things with Ellie, he is forcing Samira to find someone new, and potentially sending her home.
He adds: “It’s a huge weight on my mind at the moment, knowing that on one hand I’ve got this friendship with Samira and we get on so well and Ellie’s quite a risk in a way.
“At the end of the day, it is possible that if it plays out this way, me picking Ellie could send Sam home.”
So, in trying to make sure things are OK for Samira, he has a chat with her and is shocked to hear her views on Ellie, as she tries to place further doubts in his mind about whether Ellie genuinely interested in the doc.
She says: “I don’t trust her. She’s just not certain of things and if you come in here you want to be certain. I just don’t know her intentions in here, but it’s fine, she’s young.
“Not genuine, as in genuine about you. Because she hasn’t put any effort in.”
The doctor is immediately thrown by Samira’s comments, but he tries to defend Ellie when he heads to Beach Hut, admitting this is “the toughest recoupling” he’s been involved in.
He says: “I think it’s a bit unfair of Samira to judge Ellie and I when we’re so new and only getting to know each other. We’re just trying to give things a go. Sam’s a good girl and a great friend to me but in some ways those comments could sow seeds of doubt in your mind.
“This is by far the toughest recoupling I’ve been a part of. I’ve got a decision to make tonight and it’s not an easy one.
